The Disqualified Round Towers of Ireland

Whitechurch (Co. Cork) – visited 7 August 99

A tower at Whitechurch in the grounds of the parish church. Like the round tower in Waterloo, this 19th century copy was built by Fr. Malt Horgan, the then parish priest of Blarney. This tower is much smaller in scale than the one in Waterloo and the battlements at the top seem to refer also to the tower of Kildare. There is a small door on ground level and some large windows at the top. It is obvious that this tower has simply built as a bell tower. The tower and the site are of no interest.
