The Disqualified Round Towers of Ireland

Rosenallis (Co. Laois) – visited 8 August 1999

This tower stands on the hill to the south of the village seven miles west of Mountmellick. It is about 18 ft high and covered with ivy. The tower's circumference is much larger than expected from an orthodox round tower. These remains definitely belong to a windmill and certainly not to a native round tower. The stump was often confused with a disappeared round tower said to be on this site. But there is no proof as to that tower's existence.
